[A. Streets]

[Walking home from the hospital, Mika moves slowly, finding things to rest against in her halting trip. Her head is bandaged and her limbs tremble from the strain. The weakness in her bad leg seems to have gotten much worse. Strange spidery blotches mark her legs, and her feet seem to be bandaged as well from what can be seen around her shoes.]

[B. 339 Brady Lane]

[When Mika pushes open the door, her voice is hushed as she calls out to her housemates.]

Quinn? Raz? Are you guys home?

[She will all but collapse onto the couch, curling up defensively.]

[If she can hear or sense anything, Mika might realize there's a Vespa headed her direction. For a moment, Haruko had seen the person, intended to bash her in the head with her guitar and run like always, then saw how bad off she was, then thought about doing it anyway, and finally just settled on actually checking up on the person and going from there on how much she would piss the person off.

Wow. This person? Really not looking well. She really shouldn't care, since just about everything that wasn't Haruko looked sickly and weak and inefficient in comparison to herself. But she couldn't help it. So she stops in front of Mika.]

Y'know, there's a hospital a few blocks away. Want a lift?

[Mika looks up, straining to hear something over the deafening sound of rushing wind that filled her head, squinting at Haruko's mouth in an attempt to read her lips. Wow, she should've learned how to do that years ago, this was harder than they made it seem.]

Hospital? No thanks. I just...I just came from there.

[She's using an odd tone of voice like she can't hear a thing she's saying, over enunciating and talking a little too loud for normal conversation.]

[Haruko figures that Mika can't hear her very well from her reaction. Clearly, this means Haruko should speak louder, to the point of screaming, to make things easier.]

AND THEY LET YOU OUT LIKE THAT?

Mika flinches a little, but yes, she did manage to make out what Haruko was saying.]

They can't see I'm not human! They're drones, and they don't have the technology to fix my problem.

No, but I swiped some pain killers and bandages, I work there anyway.

[Sob she is going to want to die after this. Thank you Haruko, she never wanted to hear again anyway, obviously! She just has to make it through this talk without curling into a ball to protect her head.]

[Mika might regret this but oh well, this is obviously better than having a seizure or fainting halfway there. She climbs on behind Haruko, tying her cane to her back with a small leash before she gets a hold on Haruko herself.]

[She squints at him, having noticed the movement rather than the sound. When she speaks it's louder than it should be for casual conversation, because Mika actually cannot hear herself speak.]

You're... hurt. Come on, lean on me, we'll go and find some help.

[He hurries over, trying to support her.]

Just came from the hospital. Been this way for a while!

[She waves him off, she's taking a breather against this tree for a reason, mostly because her legs have gone all wobbly on her for the moment.]

Need to find someone who can use magic, I think.

You shouldn't have left, we need to get you back there.

[This is... horrible. He feels impotent, too small to really make a difference, and it frustrates him. He's not used to being useless.]

Please lean on me, I promise I won't let you fall.

They released me, there's nothing else they can do to help. They're working with 1950s equipment, there isn't much they have that can fix exploded eardrums.

[She knows that feeling of frustration a little too well, considering how often she experiences it. When she straightens up, she pulls him into a hug more than she just leans on him, ruffling his hair.]

I made the mistake of trying to fight someone who could use magic. He used a lightning spell on me. At least I'm fairly certain that's what happened, I can't remember it very well, but the scars make sense.

[She's making sure to keep her weight balanced between him and her cane, she doesn't want to crush him by accident.]

I don't know how I didn't die, though.

[Aside from being shocked, it made sense to want to know to make sure he was avoided in the future.]

I don't know if he has a real name. I know him as Black Mage. Not exactly the nicest person.

[She ruffles his hair gently, barely able to feel it as her nerves still hadn't fully recovered from the shock.]

I know, but I almost just want to rest. Tired all the time right now.
